Games Be Gaming

I was going to do all this Monday night, but after driving 6 hours and eating nothing but energy drinks my body decided "You're sick now". So that was fun.

Anyways, progress is pretty good. The levels now connect one after another AND the player keeps their powerups. Turns out you can just tell Unity "Don't delete this" and it won't! So now the player character, character thingies, and camera all carry over to the next level. This only caused a small headache after breaking at least 4 other programs. But, now it's working, and I can add levels to the game and it will just work. The only "issue"  is that I have to place the levels in exactly the order they will appear in, no random levels. If I have time next week I might work on a more random level progression system, but the issue is scaling difficulty. If the levels are random then it's hard to put them in order of increasing difficulty. Oh well, that's a problem for later me.

For the rest of this week, I'm focusing on a more final visual presentation. I've already started implementing some original sprites and it's actually made some things easier! I know, I was surprised too. There are a lot of weird details, but the main reason is that using custom sprites gives you more control over all of its features. Who would have guessed that a custom thing gives you more control? I'm excited about how things are going and hopefully, I will have a whole new version to post by the end of this week.
